Description

Overview
This artwork is inspired by the historic stone architecture of Than Jagir in Kutch, Gujarat. The composition focuses on the quiet rhythm of carved pillars, aged stone surfaces, and stepped forms that reflect the craftsmanship and simplicity found within traditional Kutch architecture.

The artwork captures the stillness often felt within old heritage spaces — where time appears to slow down and history quietly remains within the textures of stone. Through softened tones and weathered surfaces, the piece attempts to preserve not only the architectural details, but also the calm and timeless atmosphere surrounding the structure.

The Kutch Heritage Fresco Series is a limited collection of individually researched architectural studies, each hand-painted using natural mineral pigments and traditional lime-plaster surfaces. Every piece carries the texture and tactile character associated with historic fresco traditions.

At House of Kutch, we explore the art, architecture, materials, and stories of Kutch through ongoing field research across the region, translating fragments of this exploration into collectible contemporary objects.

Each artwork is individually handcrafted as a one-of-one original, carrying subtle surface variations, tonal shifts, and textures that form part of its unique character.
